Here comes the big red machine down the chimney again. Where did the time go?

I still get a warm and fuzzy feeling this time of year and it has everything to do with the kids and just watching the excitement build as the time gets closer. Personally, one daughter is passed the “I can’t wait to get up early on Christmas day” mode and the other daughter is now putting together a power point project with her wants categorized with clothes, electronics, essentials etc. all laid out for us to see. She might be 12, but she still is excited. Why not?

What an up and down year this has been; the golf industry as whole took a beating as did the market. But, the market came back: I can’t say the golf business did as well as they were hoping. I can’t say I am not surprised, even with all the talk of up swings some items in your personal and professional life are going to be sacrificed and it is more often than not going to be the fun things in life. So yes, there is still a recession in the golf business but we are trying to hold our own even in down times. So I think we all just need to hang in there and hope for better times to come. Can it get worse? I don’t believe it can, but I am looking at a half full glass.

A couple of reminders for the end of the year events; the LGA year end golf and dinner will be December 10th, 12:00 shot gun; the T-F year end dinner and golf will be Friday December 11th; and the MGA year end golf and lunch will be Saturday December 12th ABCD teams and the format will be 1 Gross and 1 Net. The cost will be $20 per player.

On December 24th the pro shop and driving range will be open for a double tee from

8:00 – 10:00 and close at 11:30. We will be closed all of Christmas day and re-open the 26th for regular play. As for December 31st we will again be open for a double tee from 8:00 – 10:00 and close at 11:30 but will be open for a single tee all day January 1st.

One final note, the annual Christmas sale will be held on Sunday December 13th.

Remember all credit book must be used up by Wed. December 23rd.

On behalf of myself, and my family we want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and to have a safe and wonderful holiday.

Golf Course Maintenance

Newsletter Dec 2009

The Holidays are here again.  I would like to thank everyone for a great first six months at Snee Farm.  I would also like to extend great thanks to my staff and crew.  I would also like to encourage everybody to say thanks to the Maintenance Staff.  These are the guys that work hard all year to keep everything looking good.

We have had some decent weather throughout November, but cold weather is close.  This means we will be painting the greens to keep them green throughout the winter.  We will also continue to work in the bunkers trying to get the sand redistributed throughout the bunkers. This should help the playability of the bunkers.

Happy Holidays from the Maintenance Staff.  We are looking forward to a great 2010.
